Mar 17, 2011 I recently bought a Kahr PM9, and in the first 100 rounds I had a nosedive every time I used the 7-round mag (the extended mag). I bought another extended mag, and had the same problem with that one. No problems with the 6-round mag (flush mag). Bauer Nexus 600 Hockey Stick Junior- 47 Flex, PM9 Curve, Left See more like this.
Congrats on your PM9. We're fans of 9mm 1911's and had several, including a PM9 and 3 Guardians. We had issues with our PM9. Specifically, that the fit & finish of the slide/frame was too tight, too rough or ?? The gun barely ran on +P ammo, so it went back to DW for repairs. Someone on the 1911 Addicts forum bought the gun while it was at DW.
I've seen 2 PM9's in IDPA matches that had issues. One was at a state championship and the owner said he was having frequent issues. The other time was just an observation of a shooter having a jam and confirming it was a PM9. The PM9 is a nice gun, but 3 out of 3 PM9's I've seen in action had problems that I think are related to excessive friction between the frame and slide, combined with a too weak recoil spring.

- Have the frame/slide fit checked by an expert 1911 pistol smith. I wouldn't assume that the gun is right or wrong.
- Install a flat-wire recoil spring kit from Nighthawk & trim the recoil spring so the gun runs on whatever ammo you are using.
My 9mm Nighthawk came with an 8# recoil spring which didn't quite have the oomph to push the slide into battery occasionally. I upped it to a 9#, but it would still fail to go into battery about once every 200 rounds. I've run well over 1000 rounds since converting to the flat-wire kit and it goes into battery with authority running 127PF IDPA loads.
Ditto for my 9mm DW Guardian. I'm not sure what spring the gun came with, but modern JHPs tended to stall out when hitting the feed ramp. There's no doubt that the slide is going into battery with the flat-wire kit now. I haven't trimmed the spring on the DW, but then the gun is set up for DoubleTap +P or Ranger-T +P+.

Magazines. Frankly, I don't like the mags that come with DW's. They seem to be flimsy. Fill a magazine and slide it into the frame and it's obvious the mag has swelled a bit and sticks in the frame. Not just one DW mag - all of the 8 DW mags I have. OTOH, Wilson mags slide in like butter and drop free.
